WHAT IS HYPNOSIS AND HOW CAN IT HELP YOU HEAL?

You have two different minds with two very different functions: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Hypnosis works with the subconscious part of the mind. Before we dive into Hypnosis, let’s clarify the “two minds”.

The conscious mind is where we seem to spend the most time.

The conscious mind is made up of 4 functions:

  • Will power – your ability to succeed at any goal or intention you set for yourself.
    • Example: You might say, “I am not going to smoke anymore.” The strength of your will power will determine how long you will be successful.
  • Temporary memory – this is your “working memory” and plays an important role in remembering, learning, creating and manipulating your short and long term memory at any given time. This is how you remember peoples’ names and how you know what’s on your schedule for the day.
  • The analytical mind – this is the part of your mind that looks at problems, analyzes them and comes up with solutions. The analytical mind uses the language of logic.
  • Rational thinking – our ability to rationalize things.
    • Example: you can say “I am going to have a night cap because it relaxes me and helps me sleep,” even though we know alcohol actually disrupts our sleep.

While all of these functions happen in the conscious mind, the real you lives in the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind is not only responsible for regulating body functions, it’s also a big “memory bank”. It’s where all your memories, experiences and emotions live and its primary job is to protect you. The language of the subconscious mind is imagination.

Your Subconscious mind is the keeper of:

  • Habits — the daily habits we don’t think about live in our subconscious mind, like brushing our teeth or reaching for a cigarette.
  • Emotions — Our logical mind has no control over emotions. Emotions are controlled by the child-like subconscious mind and this is why we can have problems with our emotions.
  • Permanent memory — everything we have experienced that we encoded lives here and hypnosis can access these memories, even if you don’t remember them consciously.
  • Safety — the protective part, the gatekeeper! Our personal security is the number one job of the subconscious.

Children ages 0-7 are in the subconscious mind almost 100% of time.

Children do not have the critical faculty to filter out ideas, so seeds get planted and grow from anything they are exposed to. This is why it is so important to feed children’s minds with positive and healthy ideas.

Hypnosis therapy for childhood trauma is especially effective because hypnosis works with the subconscious mind.

The main form of communication between the conscious and subconscious minds is the use of will power.

We use will power to suppress emotions and control habits. But will power is temporary and suppressed emotions can arise in negative ways and cause stress and illness. In most cases, habits will return.

When there is conflict between the conscious and subconscious minds, the subconscious is the more powerful. Because the language of the subconscious is imagination, it cannot tell what is real and true from what is not real. The subconscious mind is in charge because what it believes to be true is. Everything is real or true to the imaginative mind.

Normally, the conscious mind is in the forefront and the sub-conscious is in the back ground. Our critical faculty is in charge of mediating between the two minds. This faculty is in charge of censoring the information coming in through the senses before it enters our permanent memory, belief system or subconscious mind. If you hear something that sounds incorrect or strange, your critical faculty rejects it and it does not enter the subconscious mind.

HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?

Hypnosis is a natural state that you can enter at any moment without even being aware.

  • Have you ever driven for a while and gotten to your destination, only to realize you don’t remember the drive there? That is called “highway hypnosis.”
  • Have you ever gotten totally absorbed in a movie and cried at the end? Your conscious mind knows it was only a movie, but you had bypassed it and the story seemed real to your subconscious mind.

Hypnosis occurs when we are able to move the conscious aside and bypass the critical faculty to allow the subconscious to be receptive. Hypnosis allows positive suggestions to enter the subconscious mind to create change. So positive “seeds” can be planted.

The positive seeds of change that get planted into the subconscious mind during hypnosis can create incredible change in our beliefs, habits, thoughts and our health.

Hypnosis can be very effective to change the patterns of addictive behaviors.

Hypnosis has the power to:

  • Help release trauma
  • Change a person’s self image
  • Stop patterns of self-sabotage
  • Change the triggers in the brain
  • Overcome anxiety
  • Give an addict new confidence that a relapse will not occur

Hypnosis can create a new vision and identity for you as one who is free of addiction. Because hypnosis affects you at the level of the subconscious mind, it can change your deepest beliefs about who you are.

Changing the way the brain reacts to these memories actually stops the desire and cravings of various addictions.

MY HYPNOSIS WORK:

How do I help people change deep-seated beliefs abut themselves?

I work with your core fears and issues, such as memories of when you felt weak, fearful and hopeless.

I can lead you on a hypnotic journey to meet your healthy, successful, addiction-free Future Self.

During a Future Self hypnotic journey you will:

  • See, hear, feel your Future Self who is free from addiction and cravings.
  • See your Future Self enjoying a bountiful, joyful life with happy relationships and business success.
  • Experience living a life where you feel worthy and have a strong sense of purpose.
  • Get to feel what it’s is like to BE your Future Self.

This process will begin to change your deep held negative beliefs so you can take on a healthy new identity. The old beliefs and triggers will be released. Change can happen fast due to the brain’s neuroplasticity. Hypnosis creates new healthy neural pathways to be formed. These new pathways lead to a different, more empowered response to old triggers.
