Finding Peace in Your Heart No Matter What’s Going On

How do you find PEACE in your heart no matter what’s going on around you?

One person wrote, “If you’re not using this time to rest, reset and prioritize your purpose and people in your life, you, my friend are wasting an opportunity you may never get again. The world literally stopped and shifted for you to get your sh*t together. If this is torture for you, find out why.”

This time truly CAN be an amazing opportunity to rest, reset, and re-prioritize. There has never been a time in our lives when the world literally stopped for a great many people. However, it may also be a time of intense fear and uncertainty. In order to take the fullest advantage of this time of peace and quiet (which may be ending soon), I want to encourage you to find peace in your heart no matter what is going on around you, and more specifically…what may *seem to be going on around you.

The last sentence is key, because what appears to be going on around you is based on your perception, and your perception is based on the information coming in through your senses. The information coming in through your senses is then filtered through layers of belief systems you’ve developed over your lifespan from your upbringing, education and the culture/ society you reside in. Another quote I saw was something like: if you stop consuming news for 30 days, 80% of your problems will go away. Why is this? Because so much of what we worry about is not the things presently affecting our personal lives, but events that are happening “out there” – events used to create sensationalism and sell fear.

I urge you to take a look at your own life; what do you actually experience personally? What do you see with your own eyes? What do you experience with your own body? If you had no sources of news or social media, what would you be actually experiencing? This is a very useful exercise in checking your fears. Some fears are realistic, others are not. Checking your own sphere of influence is an effective way to get some perspective if you are feeling fearful.

Finding a Place of Peace In Your Own Heart

Another layer of finding peace no matter what may be happening in your close environment is to go into the space of your own heart. In the place within you, there is peace no matter what may be happening in the world around you.

Place one hand on your heart and the other on the back of your neck. Simply feel. This act of putting your hands on your body is healing and calming in itself. It is like giving yourself a hug. 

Next bring your focus to the center of your heart and imagine that you are breathing in and out of the center of your heart. 

Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. 

Repeat 10 times.

Practice going into your heart to find peace several times a day.

Another way to find peace is to study a flower…there are many beautiful flowers out now that it’s Spring. Look at a flower, examine it closely. Look at all the intricate parts of it. Smell it. Take a picture of it. Draw it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a great artist. Just try to capture what you see and use color. I would love to see a picture of your drawing so please send them to me when you are done.

Practice Mindfulness and Gratitude in everyday tasks that you do. When you wash dishes, notice the way the water feels on your hands. Feel what it is like to scrub the dish. Feel gratitude for having clean running water. I love turning everyday chores, which I call “home maintenance activities,” into little meditations. Your life is happening and being created in these little moments.

So, don’t waste this once in a lifetime transformation time. Use it to notice what matters to you, use it to strengthen your health, use it to show love and gratitude. There are so many layers to the events happening now, but you get to choose and create what you are focusing on in your life and through every small act of love, gratitude and UNITY, you are bringing into existence not only the life that you are wanting to create, but also doing your part to create the world that we are all wanting to manifest.
