Crystallize your vision, and cut through the noise and eliminate the clutter in your life! In your business or personal life, having a clear vision is the prerequisite to success. Your vision is what gets you up in the morning. It is what guides you to set and prioritize your goals. It is what helps you stay focused in the face of distractions. It is what keeps you going when the chips are down. Crystallizing your vision may seem like a daunting task, but it is essential to living a life of purpose.
Why is it Important to Start With Vision?
Having clarity is the number one key to success in creating what you desire to bring into fruition. Very few people ever come up with a vision for their life, but it is the key to actually meeting your goals. When you have clearly written out goals, you are 95% more likely to achieve them.
Your Priorities Come from Your Vision Informed Goals
Your goals that come straight out of your vision will feel meaningful to you. They will make sense and lead you to a feeling of having cohesive meaning in your life.
Your Goals Come From Your Vision
Your vision will be your guide in determining your goals. All of your goals should support your vision. If a goal does not support your vision, you may want to reconsider having that goal. You will want to make sure they are actually your own goals and not those that you think you should be doing. I suggest having no more than 10 goals that you are working on at any one time. You may also break up your life into four categories: work, personal, spiritual and health and have two to three top goals for each area.
Your Vision Helps You Eliminate the Clutter and Make Decisions
When you make your day to day decisions you can check in with your self and make sure that what you are focusing on is contributing to one of your goals. If it is not, is it really a priority? When you make a purchase you can also ask yourself, “is this item helping me meet one of my goals?” if not do I really need it? When you use this process your life will become more meaningful and focused and you will have less clutter that is not contributing to your happiness.
Use Images, Words and Feelings when Creating Your Vision
Creating your vision is the fun part where you get to create like an artist and dust off long forgotten childhood dreams and ideas. Where do you get ideas for your vision? I am a big proponent of routines to meet goals. My Golden Morning Routine is a great place to start http://www.amateinstituteboulder.com/creating-a-golden-morning-routine-for-optimal-mental-health/ .
Take time to go up in the mountains. Journal, draw, cut out pictures that you love out of magazines. Vision boards can be fun to make and are a great way to keep your vision clear. Whether you have a written statement or a collage of images be sure to keep your vision someplace where you will see it at least twice a day. This will keep the vision fresh in your mind and help your subconscious go to work bring ideas and inspiration of how to bring your vision to fruition.
